Sometimes health conditions can come apparently out of no where. Sometimes people know about an underlying heart condition that could make them more susceptible to having a cardiac event. Other times those underlying conditions can lay silent until an event occurs. This is one reason why it is extremely important to have a primary doctor that follows your care year after year. Come out this Thursday to the School Wellness Program's Community Advisory Council meeting! This gives parents, community members, district youth, and stakeholders the opportunity to hear what has been happening within our program and allows you a time to voice your opinions about what you may like to see happening.

We strive to keep all of our students as healthy and safe as possible. One of the best ways one can do this is being fully immunized. The state requires students enrolled in school to be up to date on their childhood immunizations. Please see attached flyer for our upcoming immunization clinic.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and Indigenous Peoples’ Day Today students from Southwestern High School attended a special field trip to Mott Community College in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The 32nd annual Peace & Dignity Sacred Ceremony provided a valuable opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the rich cultural traditions, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Indigenous communities. Southwestern High School students yesterday recently took part in a meaningful community service project, making and distributing meals to those in need. During their visit, they spent time at the North End Soup Kitchen, Center of Hope, Carriage Town, and various other locations around the city, including the 12th Street Store, High Rise Apartments, Grand Traverse and 5th Avenue, and Riverfront. The students prepared and delivered meals consisting of turkey sandwiches, chips, juice boxes, fruit snacks, and cookies, bringing nourishment and support to the homeless in our community. Their efforts reflect their commitment to making a difference and helping those less fortunate, and we couldn’t be prouder of their compassion and teamwork. Thank you to Mrs. Miller, our parent facilitator and everyone who supported and contributed to this project.
