Southwestern Classical Academy

The first day of school for Flint Community Schools is August 31st. It is a state requirement for children attending school to be up to date on their required childhood immunizations. If your child is entering Kindergarten, 7th grade, or is a new enrollee since January 2026 their classes are at risk of being closed if the district has not received up to date documentation of their immunizations status. To assist, Health Services is offering an immunization clinic next week. Please use the QR code on the attached flyer to make an appointment today. Today marked our final PBIS therapy dog visit of the school year with our favorite furry friend, Josie! 🐾💙 Students and staff always look forward to spending time with Josie, whose calming presence, wagging tail, and loving personality bring so much joy to our school community. Thank you to everyone who helped make these visits possible throughout the year. We are so grateful for the smiles, comfort, and positive moments Josie shared with us! Exciting day in Mrs. Stewart-Roberts’ Science class! The sturgeon in the tank received their microchips today as part of this amazing hands-on learning experience. Students are learning about aquatic life, conservation, and scientific research in a meaningful and engaging way. Great work by our future scientists!

SWA students had an amazing opportunity to attend a free fishing and canoeing trip hosted by Wilderness Inquiry and Genesee County Parks! Students enjoyed spending time outdoors, learning new skills, and experiencing nature in a fun and engaging way. We are especially proud that this was the first time a Flint school has participated in this event!
