Scholars at Southwestern Classical Academy received a special treat from Superintendent Jones today, after completing extra credit work while the building was closed ahead of the holiday break. 🎉 Their dedication to staying on track and continuing their learning didn’t go unnoticed. In addition to gift cards, students were also entered into a drawing for two Nintendo Switch systems. Great job, Jaguars!📚👏

We had a wonderful Monthly Parent Meeting thanks to the leadership of our amazing Parent Facilitator, Ms. Maggie! 👏🏽 Parents had the opportunity to hear an overview of school data and important updates from our School Improvement Coordinator, helping keep families informed and engaged in the progress and success of our students. Our interventionist teacher, Ms. Stinson shared reading strategies along with take-home paper to help with reading as a resource for parents. We also enjoyed an introduction to the Gloria Coles Library with Ms. Feimster, who shared valuable information about the many resources available to our students and families. 📚 A special thank you to our guest speakers Mrs. Noel, Region 6 Family Engagement Coordinator, and Mr. McKenzie, Fatherhood and Outreach Coordinator, and our dedicated Parent Ambassador, for sharing insights and resources that help strengthen the partnership between school, families, and community. We truly appreciate all of our parents who took the time to attend and stay connected to the great things happening in our school community. Your involvement makes a difference! 💙

Today our NJROTC Cadets showcased their Annual Inspection, led by Chief Przyblinski, Chief Clark, and Mr. Rampa, NJROTC MGySgt, USMC (Ret.). This inspection is an important tradition for the program and ensures that every component of the unit meets the required standards. It also helps ensure that each cadet is confident in their role and ready to represent the program with pride. Through preparation, cadets have the opportunity to synchronize movements, refine their uniform presentation, and demonstrate the professionalism, discipline, and teamwork that define the NJROTC program. We are proud of the dedication and commitment our cadets continue to show as they represent our school and community with excellence. #Southwestern #NJROTC #JagNation #FCS

🎉 Never Fail League Celebration – Marking Period 5 at Southwestern! 🎉 What an incredible time celebrating our students at Marking Period 5 for the Never Fail League at Southwestern! Our scholars enjoyed an afternoon full of fun, laughter, and well-deserved recognition. Students played life-size games like Jenga, Uno, cornhole, and Connect Four, and had a blast spending time together in the gym. 🏀🎯 There were plenty of snacks to enjoy, along with new shirts and certificates to recognize their hard work and commitment. 🐾💛 Josie’s Monthly PBIS Visit! 💛🐾

Today we had a very special visitor in the building — Josie the Therapy Dog stopped by for her monthly PBIS visit, and she brought ALL the smiles with her! 🐶✨

Students had the opportunity to spend time with Josie as part of our PBIS celebrations, recognizing their positive behavior, hard work, and commitment to our school expectations. There’s just something about a wagging tail and puppy eyes that makes everyone’s day a little brighter! 💕

Josie helps create a calming environment, reduces stress, and reminds us all of the power of kindness and connection. We are so grateful for her visits and the joy she brings to our students and staff each month.

Way to go, Jags, for continuing to show positive behavior and earning this special time! 🐾💫

🎨✨ Congratulations to Our Artists of the Month! ✨🎨

We are proud to celebrate four outstanding students Prince, Amari, Wright, and Reed for being selected as our Artists of the Month through our collaborative project with the Math Department! This special project highlighted the powerful connection between math and creativity, and these students truly shined.

Each winner received a $25 gift card to Michaels, generously provided by the Flint Classroom Support Fund, to purchase art supplies to continue creating at home. They were also presented with a certificate recognizing their amazing work and dedication.

We are so proud of their creativity, effort, and talent! Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a success and for continuing to support our students’ artistic growth. 🎉

Students had a powerful, real-world learning experience as they heard firsthand about government policy, procedures, and how decisions are made at the local level. 🎉 PBIS 3D Printing Event Success! 🎉

Today marked our first-ever PBIS 3D Printing event, made possible through an awesome collaboration between our Library Team and PBIS Team!

A huge thank you to Mr. Ibrahim for walking our students through the entire 3D printing process. From start to finish, students were fully engaged, asked great questions, and were so excited to see their ideas come to life! 🖨️✨

Students will be able to pick up their finished 3D projects on Tuesday, and we can’t wait to see their final creations.

What a great example of hands-on learning, creativity, and teamwork in action! 👏💙
