Exciting news in our building! 🐟💙 Our sturgeon tank is officially up and running, and we’re thrilled to welcome Jagger, who arrived weighing 50.68 grams and measuring 220mm in length! A huge thank-you to our wonderful “stork,” Ann Douglass, for safely bringing him all the way from the Oden State Fish Hatchery near Indian River, MI. None of this would be possible without the incredible work and dedication of our Science teacher, Mrs. Stewart-Roberts. She has poured her heart into this project teaching, inspiring, and giving our students a truly unforgettable learning experience. We can’t wait to watch Jagger grow and to see all the learning that comes with this amazing opportunity! 🌊🐟💛 #Southwestern #JagNation #FCS

Southwestern hosted our very first Family Math Night, and it was a huge success! 🎉 Families came together for rounds of Bingo, Uno, and some exciting breakout tasks—filled with laughter, learning, and a whole lot of fun. We also enjoyed delicious food from Famous Dave’s, which made the evening even more special. 🍽️❤️ A big thank you to Ms. Maggie, our wonderful Family Facilitator, for organizing such a fantastic event, and to Ms. Stinson for leading the games and keeping the energy high all night long! 🙌 We’re so grateful for our school community and can’t wait for the next one! 💙📚✨ #Southerstern #JagNation #FCS

🐾💛 Josie “Jojo Bear” had the best day visiting our school for our PBIS event! Students were all smiles as they spent time with our favorite therapy dog — she soaked up every hug, tail wag, and belly rub! 🐶✨ Through her visits, Josie helps promote emotional regulation, reduce stress and anxiety, and encourage responsibility and respect. She also helps students learn safe, caring interactions with animals while rewarding positive behavior and providing unique, meaningful experiences for those who follow expectations. Our PBIS goals focus on creating a positive, safe, respectful, and supportive school environment — and Josie’s visits are a perfect way to bring those goals to life! 💛🐾 #PBIS #TherapyDogLove #PositiveBehavior #SafeAndCaringSchools #JojoBear #FCS

📚 Our seniors had a wonderful field trip today to the Flint Public Library as part of our ongoing eight-month Senior Series partnership! Students received a guided tour of the library’s many programs and services, learned about community resources, and even applied for their free library cards. We’re excited for the months ahead as community speakers join us to share their knowledge and experiences with our students.
