📚 Our seniors had a wonderful field trip today to the Flint Public Library as part of our ongoing eight-month Senior Series partnership! Students received a guided tour of the library’s many programs and services, learned about community resources, and even applied for their free library cards.
We’re excited for the months ahead as community speakers join us to share their knowledge and experiences with our students. Greetings! This is Mr. Dompreh, Proud Principal of Southwestern Classical Academy with an update to our backpack and bookbag policy.
Effective Monday October 6, students will not be allowed to carry a backpack or bookbag after first period. Students will be required to store any backpack or bookbag in a locker after entering the building. Athletes will have to make arrangements with the athletic director for bags that are too big to fit into a regular school locker.
Other bags for carrying school issued equipment will need to be stored with the advisor of the club or activity the student is participating in.
Thank you in advance for your help with the safety and security of Southwestern Academy scholars.

🐾💙 Today we kicked off our first PBIS event of the year with a special visitor — Josie, the therapy dog! 🐶✨ Students had the opportunity to spend time with Josie who is a AKC certified therapy job with MMTD in a calm, structured setting, and we’re excited to share that this event will take place once a month. This experience ties directly to our PBIS goals by: ✅ Promoting emotional regulation – reducing stress and anxiety. ✅ Encouraging responsibility and respect – learning safe, caring interactions with animals. ✅ Rewarding positive behavior – providing unique and meaningful experiences for students who follow expectations.
