Exciting Updates from The Cube at Brownell/Holmes Campus! Superintendent Kevelin Jones was proud to host a meeting at Brownell STEM Academy. The scholars, staff, and the Brownell Neighborhood Association had the unique opportunity to select the furniture for The Cube—our innovative space for learning, collaboration, and community engagement! Flint Community Schools proudly owns and will operate The Cube @ Brownell/Holmes Campus—marking the next chapter in our commitment to excellence in education. This space will empower students and provide opportunities for collaboration, growth, and success. Full House at the Genesee Chapter Meeting! It was an exciting and informative meeting of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, with Superintendent Kevelin Jones as the guest speaker. Superintendent Jones shared valuable updates on the District’s academic initiatives, highlighted the $150 million in investments focused on student success and building improvements, and discussed the exciting plans for the Central-Whittier Campus redevelopment. On Friday, April 11, 2025, Southwestern Classical Academy scholars received an incredible gift that will have a lasting impact on their academic journeys — 80 refurbished laptops were donated to support their computer science studies. This generous contribution was made possible through Sewa Detroit, a chapter of Sewa International, in partnership with ENDO Pharmaceuticals. The donation is part of Sewa USA’s broader commitment to uplifting underserved communities, as outlined in their Social Impact Reports, which highlight the organization’s dedication to driving positive change across educational, health, and community development sectors. The laptops were presented during a special event at Southwestern Classical Academy, with district leaders, educators, and students in attendance to celebrate this meaningful investment in student success. The devices will be used by SWCA’s computer science scholars to enhance digital literacy, complete assignments, explore coding, and engage in project-based learning. Flint Community Schools remains dedicated to building strong community relationships and creating opportunities that enrich the lives of our scholars. We extend our sincere thanks to all those involved in making this donation possible.

Flint River Green workday and rehearsal at Southwestern classical Academy Wonderful job Ms. Stewart-Roberts, her team, and her science scholars at Southwestern Classical Academy today as they participate in an exciting Flint River Green workday and rehearsal. This event is part of the school’s ongoing commitment to environmental education and stewardship. Our scholars will have the unique opportunity to work alongside a team of professional environmental educators, including: • Taylor Franklin, Environmental Educator, Genesee Conservation District • Ella McFarland, Environmental Compliance Analyst, City of Flint - Water Pollution Control Division • Tiffany Minder, Environmental Compliance Supervisor, City of Flint - Water Pollution Control Division They will be joined by dedicated Southwestern educators and Flint River Watershed Coalition members: • Mrs. Lossing, Art Instructor, SWCA PBE member • Mrs. Stewart-Roberts, Biology Instructor, SWCA Green and Salmon in the Classroom teacher • Ms. Williams, Engineering and Design Instructor, SWCA PBE member Together, they’ll engage in water quality testing, environmental stewardship practices, and prepare for their upcoming Flint River Green presentation.
