Our students who were interested in pursuing a career in Education – early childhood education, elementary education, secondary education, special education, and MORE were invited to participate in break out sessions to hear panelist speak on the field of Education.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and Indigenous Peoples’ Day
Today students from Southwestern High School attended a special field trip to Mott Community College in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The 32nd annual Peace & Dignity Sacred Ceremony provided a valuable opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the rich cultural traditions, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Indigenous communities.
This experience enhanced students’ cultural awareness which fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation for the diversity that shapes our communities.

Southwestern High School students yesterday recently took part in a meaningful community service project, making and distributing meals to those in need. During their visit, they spent time at the North End Soup Kitchen, Center of Hope, Carriage Town, and various other locations around the city, including the 12th Street Store, High Rise Apartments, Grand Traverse and 5th Avenue, and Riverfront.
The students prepared and delivered meals consisting of turkey sandwiches, chips, juice boxes, fruit snacks, and cookies, bringing nourishment and support to the homeless in our community. Their efforts reflect their commitment to making a difference and helping those less fortunate, and we couldn’t be prouder of their compassion and teamwork.
Thank you to Mrs. Miller, our parent facilitator and everyone who supported and contributed to this project. It was a powerful reminder of the impact we can make when we come together to serve others.

The Flint Community Schools, School Wellness Program will be holding it's biannual Community Advisory Council (CAC) meeting. This meeting is a chance to learn more about the wellness program, which provides Registered Nurses and Clinical Mental Health Therapists right in the buildings. This is also a chance to have your input be heard. Come get involved! It will be held October 24th from 1-3 at Doyle Ryder, in their community room.
